ACADEMIC YEAR PAID INTERNSHIPS

MUSEUM EDUCATION INTERN

Delivers gallery interpretive programs to all audiences, teaches school-age education programs, develops education materials, writes for the museum blog, contributes to social media, and staffs special events. In addition, interns assist with the daily operations of the museum during weekly onsite hours.  Art history, studio art, educational studies, cultural or literary studies desirable.  Availability an average of two Saturdays per month and/or weekdays (Tues-Thurs) between 3 and 5 desirable. No previous art experience necessary.

6-10 hrs/week. Eight Assistants needed per semester, with option to renew for second semester.

EXHIBITIONS AND COLLECTIONS INTERN

Assists the Collections Manager with preparing and installing exhibitions, supporting object study programs, and cataloging the collections. Previous experience with art installation, construction or painting is desirable.

4-6 hrs/week on average. Schedule changes based on museum installation schedule. One- year commitment required.

LANGUAGE EDUCATION INTERN

Seeking Spanish, French, German, Italian, Arabic and Japanese speakers.  Fluency in more than one language is desirable. Language Interns are trained in museum exhibition content and lead language programs for college classes and visiting high schools using objects on view in current exhibitions. Lessons are collaboratively planned and edited by Language Interns, relevant faculty and Trout Gallery staff.

Hours vary weekly. Approximately 4-6 hrs/week during four planning weeks and 1-2 hrs/week the rest of the semester.
